Different types of General Purpose (GP) instances on AWS EC2

The different types of general purpose instances on AWS EC2 are:

  1. M-series instances: These instances provide a balance of compute, memory, and networking resources, making them suitable for a wide range of workloads, such as web servers, application servers, and small to medium databases.

  2. T-series instances: These are burstable performance instances that provide a baseline level of CPU performance with the ability to burst above the baseline when needed. They are suitable for workloads that don't require sustained high CPU performance.

  3. A-series instances: These instances use AMD processors and are designed to provide a balance of compute, memory, and networking resources at a lower cost compared to the M-series instances.

  4. Mac instances: These instances are designed to run macOS workloads, such as Xcode, iOS, iPadOS, and tvOS app development.
